Training Modules
Module 1: Laying the Foundation
Module 1 covers core competencies 2 (Embodies a Coaching Mindset) and 4 (Cultivates Trust and Safety) as well as who the participant is as coach.
Module 2: "Being" a Coach
Module 2 covers core competencies 5 (Maintains Presence) and 6 (Listens Actively) as well as introduces coaching models. In this module, participants learn what coaching is and what it looks like. Participants begin practicing after this module, with observation, reflection and mentoring.
Module 3: Coach Scaffolding
Module 3 covers core competency 3 (Establishes and Maintains Agreements). This module goes in-depth regarding contracting, within and across sessions. Practice coaching continues, with observation, reflection, and mentoring.
Module 4: Changing the Lens
Module 4 covers core competency 7 (Evokes Awareness). Powerful questions, coaching communication, and the integration of core competencies are covered. Practice coaching continues, with observation, reflection, and mentoring.
Module 5: Facilitating Growth
Module 5 covers core competency 8 (Facilitates Client Growth). In addition to the competency skills, goal setting, intentions, and habit formation are explored. Practice coaching continues, with observation, reflection, and mentoring.
Module 6: Growing Season
Module 6 continues training on core competencies 7 (Evoking Awareness) and 8 (Facilitates Client Growth). In addition, awareness and sensitivity to the person of the client (culture, identity, etc.) is discussed. Practice coaching continues, with observation, reflection, and mentoring.
Module 7: You as Coach
Module 7 focuses on core competency 1 (Demonstrates Ethical Practice) with a review of the full ICF Code of Ethics. Additionally, participants reflect on who they are as coach and how they can best impact others through their coach self. Practice coaching continues, with observation, reflection, and mentoring.
Module 8: Business of Coaching
(Virtual)
Module 8 takes participants into the world of developing their own coaching practice, including marketing, business development, logistics of building a client base.
Module 9: Tools and Assessments
(Virtual)
Module 9 covers tools and assessments that coaches use to build awareness in their coachees. In addition, check-ins and challenges the coaches are facing are discussed.
Module 10: Beyond 1:1
(Virtual)
Module 10 introduces group and team coaching and how they differ and are similar to 1:1 coaching.
7 hours Group Mentor Coaching (Virtual)
3 hours Individual Mentor Coaching (Virtual)
Participants will engage in 7 hours of group mentor coaching, which will focus on their implementation of the core competencies.
Following the 7 hours of group mentor coaching, participants will submit recordings for individual mentor coaching. Mentor coach and participant will review the recording based on the Minimum Skill Requirements for ICF ACC credentialing. Participants will gain valuable, actionable feedback to improve their coaching skills.

Pamela Maxson, PhD, MCC. Pam has extensive teaching and facilitating experience, including creating curriculum and interactive learning experiences for adult learners. Pam has taught at Duke University for over 30 years and prides herself in fostering insight and awareness in her students. Pam has worked with coach training programs as an instructor, mentor coach, and performance evaluator. Pam's happy place is in the intersection of teaching, coaching, and creating.
Pam is an executive/leadership individual and team coach, mentor coach, trainer/facilitator, speaker and lifelong learner who focuses on helping individuals tap into their purpose, overcome their personal and professional obstacles, and develop a plan to achieve their goals.
Pam is an ICF Master Certified Coach, a Certified Business and Professional Coach, and a Certified Authentic Leadership Coach. Pam has worked in organizational leadership and taught developmental psychology at Duke University for 30 years. Pam is the founder of Periscope Coaching, LLC, which provides a new lens on leading, an author (Finding Your Inner Bitch), and the current president of the ICF Raleigh Chapter.

James Beeman, MCC. As a leadership coach and trainer, James has 18+ years of experience in training, mentoring, advising, consulting, and coaching clients ranging from undergrad and
graduate students to senior leaders at Fortune 500s who are looking to make a
significant shift in their life and career. James holds the Master Certified Coach (MCC) from the
International Coaching Federation (ICF).
James has completed extensive training, coaching, and mentoring under the direction of Dr. William Larkin (Harvard) and Dr. Donald Johnson (Yale) of the Applied Neuroscience Institute and often incorporates neuroscience research, positive psychology literature, and strengths theories into the inside-out work he does with clients who are in transition.
James resides in small-town North Carolina and is the proud dad of two kids (Clark and
Charlotte) and one cat (Leo). James has aspirations to complete a PhD in Organizational Leadership, become a published author, and contribute meaningfully to the pursuit of happiness for millions of souls around the world.

Christine Rosier, ACC, is a leadership expert and strategist, ICF credentialed coach, course facilitator, speaker, and author. Drawing from her extensive background as a former corporate senior executive, Christine brings decades of experience leading high-performing teams across regional, national, and international markets in industries such as technology, healthcare, internet securities, and investment services.
Christine’s journey from executive leadership to coaching was fueled by her firsthand understanding of what it takes to lead in complex, fast-paced, and constantly evolving environments. Her deep expertise in global leadership and team dynamics led her to develop powerful models and strategies for coaching leaders who aspire to create meaningful impact.
In addition to her work with executives and organizations, Christine has spent several years training and mentoring new coaches, helping them build the skills, confidence, and presence required to be transformational in their practice. Her experience as a coach trainer reflects her deep commitment to the growth of the coaching profession and her belief in the ripple effect strong coaching can have within organizations and communities.
As a coach and practitioner, Christine equips leaders and teams with the clarity, tools, and mindset needed to foster strong cultures, increase collaboration, and build sustainable results. Whether facilitating transformative retreats, training emerging coaches, or coaching executives one-on-one, Christine’s approach is thoughtful, grounded, and results-oriented.
Ronda Bowman, MBA, PCC. Ronda is passionate about unlocking human potential and has dedicated her career to empowering others to grow, lead, and achieve meaningful results. With a rich background spanning consulting, management, and executive leadership roles in Fortune 500 companies, she brings deep expertise in coaching teams, executives, and individuals across diverse industries.
Her journey began in the entertainment industry and evolved through technical, sales, and leadership roles, always with a focus on people development. As a leader of Learning & Development and Sales Enablement organizations, Ronda has designed and delivered award-winning programs that drive business impact and foster career advancement.
Ronda believes that true leadership is about inspiring and motivating others to reach beyond their perceived limits. “My mission as a coach is to help others uncover what’s possible by removing roadblocks and creating a clear line of sight to their goals,” she says. Her approach is rooted in curiosity, empathy, and a commitment to helping clients ignite creativity and innovation.
Ronda is a certified and accredited coach (CPCC, ACC), a certified Personal Brand Strategist, and a public speaker. She holds an MBA with a concentration in Management and Leadership. Her work has been recognized with multiple industry awards, reflecting her dedication to both individual and organizational success.
Ronda is excited to be part of the faculty, where she partners with clients to create lasting, positive change.
Amanda Maxson, MSW, CPC. Amanda is a Certified Professional Coach who specializes in helping people live their lives fully. She has a Master's in Social Work from the University of nNorth Carolina, which enables her to leverage her theoretical knowledge as well as her practical experience. She loves helping clients find meaning in their lives.
Amanda loves to bring creativity into people's lives, helping them see that creativity is the key to living the life they want. Amanda serves as the Creativity Specialist for Periscope Coaching.
Julee Waldrop, DNP, CPC. Julee recently became a certified professional coach after a career in nursing. Julee was a Duke University School of Nursing clinical professor. She has been a nurse
practitioner since 1991 and taught nursing since 1994. She also serves as editor-in-chief of The Journal
for Nurse Practitioners. But she is retiring from academia and journal editor on August 30, 2024, to begin
her new life as an entrepreneur, coach, writer, and consultant.
She has two grown sons and 2 daughters in laws and 2 grandchildren and 1 dog.
She is a certified yoga and pranayama or breathwork teacher and hopefully soon a certified nurse coach
and holistic nurse. She loves long-distance running, being outside, quilting, and reading and listening to
audiobooks in her spare time.
